ITINERARY

Day 1 - Perugia
Arrival in Bettona. Accommodation at torre burchio, a farm located in the middle of “green Umbria” near the beautiful historical towns of Perugia and Assisi in perfect harmony with the landscape. In the surrounding woods you can admire many species of animals in their natural habitat, such as deer, boars, pheasants, hares and grey partridges. Torre burchio farmhouse is dated to 1880 and has been renovated preserving its original character. The rooms are tastefully furnished with antique furniture and with modern facilities, TV, telephone. The restaurant offers homemade and genuine Italian baked goods and traditional Umbrian country style dishes. Dinner and overnight at the farm.

Day 2 - Perugia
Breakfast at the farm. In the morning we suggest an optional half-day tour of Assisi, the hometown of St. Francis where you can visit the medieval center and the 2 beautiful churches. One is dedicated to St. Francis and the other to Santa Maria degli angeli, a basilica church in Rome, built inside the frigidarium of the baths of Diocletian. In the afternoon enjoy your cooking class and at the end enjoy what you have cooked for dinner. Overnight.

Day 3 - Perugia
Breakfast at the farm. We suggest spending your free time in Perugia for shopping or sightseeing. Visit the center, represented by the piazza IV November together with the steep alleys, which lead to the oldest walls. The square is surrounded by splendid buildings, and in the centre stands the Fontana maggiore. Another side of the square is occupied by the palazzo dei priori, which was in the middle ages the residence of the principal political authorities of the city. The other side of the square is occupied by the cathedral of San Lorenzo of the 1300s. Dinner at the farm. Overnight.

Day 4 - Perugia/Florence
Breakfast at the farm and enjoy some free time to relax at the torre burchio estate. Depart to figline valdarno (fi). Dinner and overnight at villa casagrande. This ancient villa was built in the 13th century for a very important Florentine family. Through the years, the villa became a gathering place for great artists and philosophers. Today villa casagrande remains a precious jewel full of art treasures, paintings, frescoes and sculptures. It has been carefully restored, blending history and modern day comforts. All rooms are equipped with telephone, color TV and private bath / shower. Available are sauna and fitness room. The restaurant is situated in the ancient weaponry room and offers refined dishes of Tuscan cuisine accompanied with the excellent Chianti wines produced by the farm.

Day 5 - Florence
Breakfast at the villa. Free time to enjoy the visit of Florence “the cradle of renaissance”: the splendid duomo with giotto bell’s tower and brunelleschi cupola, signoria square with the imposing loggia dei lanzi and the copy of David by Michelangelo, Ponte vecchio (the ancient bridge). In the afternoon, 2-3 hour cooking class: how to prepare Tuscan dishes, such as the famous “pappa al pomodoro” and cake with grapes. After the lesson, taste what you have cooked. Overnight at the villa.

Day 6 - Florence
Breakfast and end of services.
